Notice of Intent to Move!

If you are into reading my comments, you may have noticed my intense dislike of the ads that appear in the comments window. I had no idea they could be that offensive. Sorry.

So here is my plan. I have created an account in the homeschool blogging world. I had been thinking of this for some time, but you know my aversion to the term homeschooling, thus I had procrastinated.

New Blog Please update this as my new link. Well, that is if you want to continue to read what I have to say. I will not be deleting this blog until I can a. figure out how to move it there (which may be... (more)

No Particular Title for this One

Today, as we left church, Lucien and I were commenting on how awesome it is to get to the end of a worship service and think--it's done already???

Yesterday, I asked boy #4 to grab something for me and he did. I told him he was a life saver. He promptly responded--I'm NOT A LIGHT SABER!!

I figured out why I do not like being called a 'home schooler.' The label itself implies that there are other schooling options. I read "When You Rise Up" by RC Sproul Jr today (what do you mean you haven't read that before today, Lyn--isn't he one of your elders?--yes yes yes, but I hadn't... (more)

Religion/Relationship

I've been annoyed lately about how people seemingly trying to make things 'real' for the lost say, "it isn't about religion, its about a relationship." I've been wondering what is so horrible about having a religion anyway. This morning, I looked religion up in the dictionary.

religion The beliefs, attitudes, emotions, behavior, etc., constituting man's RELATIONSHIP with the powers and principles of the universe, esp. with a deity or deities.

You could sum that up as man's relationship with God. So isn't it all the same thing? My religion is a relationship with God. I feel... (more)

I have failed to mention that boy#4 turned 4 on Sunday. We celebrated Saturday and he enjoyed himself despite a summer cold. This boy has not been his sweet, innocent self of late however. He has been saying God's name when not praying. I know its said a lot down here and he hears it outside, at Wallyworld, etc, but we certainly do not allow it. Sigh.... He also has picked up a mocking sort of attitude--that is if someone annoys him -he will say what they said in a mocking way. So you can see he is requiring more shining than usual.

Baby has been fussy esp. in mornings. I finally... (more)

On Thursday during our Quiet Time (which is manditory nap or reading time), I was reading an autobiography. Well, I read the whole autobiography--it was not difficult reading and I read quickly. Anyway, there was a chapter about something I have often felt convicted of, but, as my husband has not been, I have tried to let it go. I put down the book a moment and prayed. I expressed a desire NOT to harrass my husband about this but prayed fervently that he would bring up the subject when he returned home.

Almost the first thing out of my husband's mouth when we had an opportunity to... (more)

A Rant about Scrapbooking, and Baby Books

I am 5 years behind on scrapbooking. That means I have a small plastic container filled with pictures from 2000-to now. I've finally come to terms with the simple fact that I don't enjoy it. I don't enjoy thinking of cutesy things to write or cutesy ways to cut the pictures or cutesy ways to decorate around the border, etc, etc, etc. Its just not me. Thankfully, I have found a simple solution. Walmart sells photo safe, acid free albums now that I can just slide in the picture and next to it there is some lined paper on which I can say who is in the picture and what the date is so that...
A woman recently expressed surprise that my boys watch Star Wars so I thought I should explain my position.

In the beginning and when my first 2 sons were still content to chew on board books and bang pots and pans, I somewhat believed the deception that Johnny plays with trucks and Janie plays with dolls because their parents 'brainwash' them into doing so. My boys were only going to view harmless things--cutesy shows. I would not be buying them weapons of any sort--toys or otherwise.

Then my third son was born. At 2 1/2 he made a gun out of anything. Sticks, legos, whatever.... (more)

Actually my list from yesterday was from a few months of observations and my day was ok. I did have a few frustrations. Like the portraits thing and receiving our books from Rainbow Resource and getting all happy only to discover that they had sent me Alg 1/2 instead of Alg 1. So now I have 2 Alg 1/2's. Hopefully, they'll be kind enough to fix that today.

Anyway, back to my title. Having started up school again, it has come to my attention that I'm spending too much time staring at this monitor. So those of you I know from Chat--please don't expect me for a while. I may pop in... (more)

1. A board book can not be torn, but it can be chewed in to little pieces.

2. A nursing one year old will kick at anything within range while nursing.

3. A short driving distance seems longer if you hop on the interstate to get there (especially if you've lived previously where you used the interstate maybe once a year.)

4. Be sure to check baby's ears if you've given her cake.

5. When doing portraits at home, it may be best to print them at home or in person at Wallyworld since ordering them on line may result in being accused of ordering prints of portraits taken at... (more)
